Following their successful debut earlier this year, the Dutch team behind Chippy Chasers announced their second EP “Showcase A”, consisting of four sophisticated and vibrant tracks, each meticulously produced and crafted by different artists – Fedo, Andrey Djackonda & Ovil, Legit Trip, and Firesc.
A bouncy and animated intro paves the way for “Tunisian Rex”, Fedo’s premiered track on side A1. The track’s African influences can be observed throughout, with its spirited balafon keys accompanied by tribal-like vocal samples that blend together seamlessly over the blissful and linear bassline.
“Lui Lui”, Andrey Djackonda and Ovil’s work on side A2 is characterized by rhythmic, symmetrical breaks and subtle jazzy notes that come and go in waves, all blending smoothly with the puzzling vocals that appear sporadically from start to end.
Flipping over to side B1, Legit Trip’s “Skripi Daddy” changes the joyful animated vibe of its previous counterparts to a darker, deeper, more mysterious ambiance. A melodic line overlaid with muffled vocals and trippy sounds compose the track’s leitmotif.
If you don’t know where to look, be it “Left or Right”, then you should just close your eyes and let yourself loose, because Firesc has the ace up his sleeve with this one. A proper album-closing that sums up its atmosphere flawlessly, with funky and unexpected sounds, subtle vocals and oriental influences, an astounding and stylish blend of distinctive elements that come together as water drops in a glass.
Showcase A will be officially released on October 25, and until then it can be pre-ordered on deejay.de and Bandcamp.
