French-Taiwanese artist Nathan Alzon kicks off Tapioca’s vinyl series with the first release hearing three no-nonsense cuts.
Since launching his music career in 2018, Nathan Alzon, formerly known as Blasique, quickly made a name for himself in the Taipei underground music scene before relocating to the Netherlands. Earning support from some hotly tipped names such as Marco Carola, Luciano, Loco Dice, Rich NxT, and Archie Hamilton. With standout releases like the “Looking at You” EP on ANOTR’s No Art label and “Heartbreaker” on Tamango Records, the French-Taiwanese artist is poised to rise as one of 2022’s most exciting emerging talents.
We have decided to premiere A2 from the release “Garage Baker” which hears a host of fruity, infectious leads atop a robust body of drum machines that leave no moments between each tap of the toes! Timeless melodies meander throughout, driving the tune towards some seriously climactic gun-finger moments as studio expertise makes itself evident, sprinkling moments of flow and finesse over the top.
First on the A side, the brilliantly titled “Wiggle & Wobble’s Russian Roulette Extravaganza” delivers a lovely bit of that, with four-to-the-floor beats from the off, a playful vocal intertwines, emanating arcade games. Effervescent melodies concrete that games console craziness, bringing those 8-bit vibes, which continue as a host of fun samples hear themselves across the track.

B1. “Hopeless Maniac” hears a collaborative effort with Australian ace producer Litmus coming through with his usual slick and undeniably groovy sounds. The pair deliver an addicting slice of deep, note-heavy, introspective dance music that keeps developing, adding extra layers of rhythm, sound and emotion as they ebb and flow. With definite nods to classic electro this one banger that is sure go down with heads old and new.
TP001 is a powerful testament to Nathan’s musical soul and production skills. An excellent first release from Tapioca suggesting sweet things for their future. We look forward to hearing the rest of the story.
