Dreams On Wax Records are celebrating their second birthday with a rather large release. The Spanish collective, based out of Madrid and Barcelona, have wasted little time in making their mark. In a relatively short period of time they’ve built a booming back catalogue, making a wide spanning family of artists in the process. DOW020 invites a host of old friends alongside a bunch of the new. Legit Trip is one of those making the label debut.
Born in Moscow and now based in the vibrant city of Budapest, Legit Trip aka Artem Boldizhar is well versed in serving up the finer bits. He last appeared back on our pages in 2021 as part of a premiere for Purple Box. In more recent times, releases came thick and fast on SOS, Jack’s House Recordings and his own Svoboda label. All between playing a string of events across Europe.
His contribution ‘Gliese 710’ is a deep groover, pleasantly thumping rhythm around dainty melodies. Much of the music centres around sample of speech, an instrument in its own with a story to tell.
Bassline wraps around the bars painting narrative, with a cheeky percussion that taps politely on the beat. Grooves inject class, blending with the sass of the speaker into a bubbling warm up that would sit nicely in the early hours as the event gets started. Punchy yet subtle, with little else needed.
This one can be found alongside a bunch more, as part of the DOW020 compilation on Bandcamp.
