Bangkok mainstay DJ and producer powerhouse DOTT shares a fresh slice of minimal goodness from his upcoming “Double-O-Seven” EP alongside label co-founder, Sarayu.
DOTT has been going from strength to strength from strong initial releases on the likes of Little Helpers a few years back, through to some killer vinyl releases on reputable outfits, Ubiyu, Blkmarket Music as well as his own More Rice records. “Double-O-Seven EP” marks the seventh release on the label, hearing its head honchos going side by side. Having remained true to the underground, More Rice has seen a string of vinyl pressed showcasing a roster of under-the-radar artists, determining their own stamp within the world of minimal techno.
A.2 on the release “Pricey Drive Down” hears a tasteful evolution of low-end goodies develop over a solid beat as a host of infectious percussive elements whisper across the track. Soulful and introspective pads take the lead as things develop to pure fire gun-finger energy in the form of an extremely well programmed bassline that oozes acidic grooves. A healthy combination of elements see this number fit for all sorts of sets, from peak time to afterparty it is sure to deliver.
“Pricey Drive Down” is coupled nicely with “Bullets On The Floor” which delivers a driving sci-fi-esque piece, hearing a heavy 303 workout in tandem with a plethora of synth parts that send signals to the very depths of space.
On the flipside, More Rice Records co-founder Sarayu takes to the helm as he delves deep in a similar fashion, B1. “4am Sci-Fi” does exactly as it says on the tin – pounding beats meets ethereal noises – perfect selection for even the most delirious of ravers, straight up rocket fuel. Rounding things off, “On Road 4×4” again does exactly what it says on the tin, a late-night journey with arpeggiators doing most of the heavy lifting alongside phat drums that shuffle and skip with style.
An impressive seventh output from More Rice Records and some top tracks from both label heads, their future is looking very bright, and we are more than excited to hear it.
