Premiere: 8 – Relledocs – Balthazar [VAVBR01]

To celebrate their first year of releases, Italian artist Relledocs presents a digital VA packed with peak time action. For the occasion, he has lined up tracks from the artists that have featured on the label in the last 12 months. A proper family affair.

We check out this excellent VA in reverse fashion, with label head Relledocs taking the last spot on the release with “Balthazar”. It may be a bit premature to say that the best has been kept to last, but then again all tracks on the VA are killer. Relledocs certainly signs off the VA in style as the phat bass tones spread out like lava once deployed. The tripped vibes are punctuated further with acid noodles and rib cracking breakbeats, not for the feint hearted.

Rewinding back to the beginning of the release and BAST kicks off the VA with “Dancefloor Controlla” and it really does exactly what it says on the tin. The well known vocal sample is to great effect here with a slight change up in timing, but the result is the same – nobody is leaving the dancefloor any time soon.

Bordeaux ITA is next and “Circuit Jam” takes us on a bumpy breakbeat adventure. Deep probing bass tones take care of the lower hertz with the 303 synth line gluing together the breaks nicely. Evaraldho follows this up with the vibe heavy “Noches Que No Despiertan” and after the previous bass heavy additions this uplifting houser hits the spot. Not to say that it doesnt absolutely smack too, but the repeating bells elevate the release to new levels.

These uplifting vibes are dialed up even further with the fluted loveliness from Gabriel Borgia on “Musica Da Lagoa”. Seaguing into a somewhat dark patch on the release sees Lascu turn in a pitch black minimal groover, but there is still a glimmer of light in amongst the bowed steel sound fx and thick rhythms. Lightening up proceedings considerably is the afro, melodic “Ermou Street” from Paolo Rea followed by Pardo’s “Heartless” which captures the heady moments of a dancefloor in full swing.

This acts as a euphoric staging for the last track, which comes via label boss Relledocs. Considering that the first EP did not drop until this time last year, Vibra has already shifted through many shades of electronic music and has collected some great artists along the way.
