Body Movement boss Robert James has evolved in recent years to become a major player in the UK house and breaks scene. For those in the know this will come as little surprise as Robert’s bangers as they are well aware of how hot his productions and DJ sets are.
Having made huge noise with his own label it is clear why rising imprint Outright Records have brought in James for a four track EP for their fourth outing. It is clear that the two have clearly got their fingers on the pulse.
‘E-factor’ hits the perfect stride between old school house and nu school breaks. Deep paddy bass tones rumble nicely underneath the pumping drums that waste absolutely no time in going for the jugular. Garagey synth stabs prop up the breakdown alongside synth washes that give a great edge that leads right to the peak time hours of any good rave.
The rest of the ‘Space Beats’ EP is just as killer and title track ‘Space Beats’ knocks the grooves out of the park with some outrageous basslines. The stripped back house rhythms thump from the outset and offer a half sinister trip to outer space. This is carried over to ‘Soundscaping’ where acid heavy breaks is the order of the day. Settling down to a deeper groove with ‘East Dub’ and the cosmic tinged classic vibe closes out yet another rock-solid vocal flecked release form Outright Records.
Pre-order is now live for outright004 on their Bandcamp page.
