UK rising talent Ben Jones has been cementing himself onto the circuit for some time now with his energy and clear vision of sound within his productions and sets. In fact, the Liverpool based DJ/ Producer, and now also label owner caught the attention of the Enzo Siragusa himself which has led Ben to joining LOCUS and releasing on their label with his track – “Get To Know” and of course stepping behind the decks to play at their parties.
From this founding his label BEFORE was just a matter of time, and Ben had a clear mind with what to do when making his debut 001 “Fizzy Water” EP little could go wrong with his skills. Ben sets consist of a minimal and dark rolling house elegance throughout which can now also be heard on the floor of Birmingham’s TRMNL at lab11 where he embarks on another journey.
The main course of the day is the first track on the record, A1 – ’Soothe’, a collaboration between Ben Jones & Benjamin Joseph. A minimal groove that starts with a deep bassline, followed by suggestive vocals and spooky pads. Subtle aquatic sounds create a mystical atmosphere and as the track goes on and the intensity builds up whilst remaining constant and precise, we can picture ourselves weaving into this dark minimal journey.
Moving on and heading to the second track, A2, we find Robert James’ remix of ’Soothe’, which changes the narrative by adding an electro touch, with wobbly breaks and funky drums.
Flipping over to B1, ’Dmode’ by Robert James comes in with an electrifying minimal-tech track, ready to get your feet dancing throughout the night.
On the final track on the record, we can observe a swapping of places, as this time Ben Jones and Benjamin Joseph have remixed Robert James’ previously mentioned track and added their minimal dark touches with linear grooves and thrilling synths.
The EP can be pre-ordered from Juno.
