Swiss-born, Lichtenstein-based artist Andy Kas has been quietly making quite the impact on the underground. Having already amassed a respected discography that includes EP’s on Truly Madly’s Mindhelmet, Bizarre Trax’s TAN, Proper Grub, as well as tracks for Gene On Earth’s Nug Net imprint, System Error’s Party Bombs, and Sonder London. His tracks continue to shine a light on the future of house music, but with a firm influence from the past.
Kas is on blistering form with his Free Download series, and “Cursed” offers a peak time groover full of mystery and intrigue. Clipped percussion hits and vocal stabs keep the rhythms short and punchy, which is just the way Kas likes them. Organ stabs keep the housey vibe while the Omen-esque arpeggiating synths and vampiric piano roll continue to add the horrific edge.
