Brazilian artist DPR has helped to shape the landscape of the electro-leaning scene in his native country. This regularly takes the form of headline sets at the likes of D-Edge and Surreal Park, to name just a few. Electro is just one of the many sonic tools DPR uses to paint his pictures, as his mix for podcast series will attest. An artist who is constantly on the move, both physically and musically. Having enjoyed flitting between the finest parties in Europe, DPR also recently completed an Asian tour, which is where this week’s podcast series is beamed from.
Recorded live during an all-vinyl set at Stereo 52 in Guangzhou, DPR moves between introspective analogue moods and more mystical scenes, creating a rich tapestry of sound as he goes. It is not long before the speaker-troubling sub-bass tones begin to take root within the audio commentary by way of dubbier, minimal tones. It is clear from the out that DPR is a student of the dig as his records speak volumes of his skills in the deep end of a vinyl bin.
