Based in Paris, French and Dominican artist Crâne de Poule shares her stories through music and the visuals she illustrates. She studied music at the conservatory, playing violin and percussion for a decade, before turning to production and live performance, and that training shows within her performances. With one foot in house music and another in jazz, her work captures the feel of live takes. Her live sets are loose and exploratory, consistent in quality but rarely the same from one night to the next.
She is also the founder of CDP REC, a Paris label where every release comes with a hand-drawn illustration. Its sound is raw, deep and groove-led, shaped by Detroit techno, Chicago house, French touch, minimal house, jazz and classical music. Her own releases have appeared on a range of imprints including CONCEPTUAL, RESTLESS, DURITE, Dreams On Wax, and the lauded Lescale Recordings.
Like all the many different aspects of her artistic world, Louise in her Crâne de Poule guise delivers a fantastically energetic sonic gift in “Clé de Voute”. With her trusty piano by her side, she winds a sprightly tale that is enhanced no end by the grinding bassline that underpins the whole track. The perfect balance of old and new, punchy grooves keep time while the key strokes conjure up an effortlessly timeless journey.
