The Apollonia imprint celebrates it’s 30th release with a 4-tracker from a dynamic duo!
Between touring around the globe and playing at the best parties the world has to offer, the French trio Apollonia have also found the time to run their own record label, running it very successfully at that. It would seem that their experiences in the booth and on the dancefloor over the years is something that has allowed them to scout out fantastic music when selecting compositions for their label.
There have been some fantastic collaborations on the imprint over the years including Chris Carrier & Hector Moralez, Dutch duo Makcim & Levi and production infusions between Dan Ghenacia and Chris Carrier, as well as The Martinez Brothers. The 30th release on the label see’s a new duo emerge with a full EP of original tracks.
The first half of the duo is none other than Apollonia’s very own Shonky, who as a producer has provided DJ’s with heaps of music over the years, including 4 solo releases on the label already, as well as various other works on the imprint with Dan Ghenacia and Dyed. Working alongside Shonky on this release is Tolga Fidan, a part French part Turkish producer who’s discography boasts releases on labels like Eklo, Archie Hamilton’s Moscow Records, Finest Hour and Yay, as well as recurring appearances on Vakant. In 2016, Fidan launched his own label – TFR. The imprint is now on its third release, and perfectly depicts Tolga’s futuristic electro cuts.
Our premiere track ‘Dynamo’ opens up the release, giving off an intergalactic groove that travels through all the tracks. Accompanied with the deep layers of hats, there are various spacey effects and panning atmospheres that form the composition. Shonky and Tolga are a well suited duo in the studio, and this beams through not only in ‘Dynamo’, but the entire EP.
