Premiere: 1 – Marc Satseg – Neuromancer [MS017]

Marc Satseg returns to his own label Spaceless Recordings to shape the 17th release.

The enigmatic artist has built a reputation for reliable, cosmic club music over recent years. As well as curating 17 EPs on his label, his sound is expressed through the Space Session podcast and regular free download and Bandcamp releases. Satseg’s latest offering is another example of his finely honed ability to traverse genres while keeping the energy firmly in peak-time territory.

On ‘Neuromancer’, Satseg dives into the murky yet mesmerising waters where trance, techno, and electro converge. A driving rhythm underpins the track, propelled by breakbeats that snap with machine-sharp precision.

Gritty acid lines slither through the mix, lending an edge of menace, while ethereal pads and hypnotic melodies bring a momentary sense of euphoria before delving back into the deep end. It’s a track that builds on contrasts between light and dark, control and chaos that would definitely come to life on a club sound system.

Vast atmospheres shimmer over the beat, blending lush, soft synth sounds with an ominous energy from the bassline. You can imagine the likes of Raphael Carrau or DJ Masda spinning this deep weapon in an extended session.

Four tracks shape the Bandcamp EP, exploring various shades of a cosmic-inspired palate. ‘Clear Your Mind’ leans more towards techno territory in the second track with a huge kick,  whilst eerie pads bubble away in the background.

‘Don’t Be Afraid’ follows with a more playful, synyth vibe that touches on 80s inspiration, before closing out with the throbbing and sludgy space workout ‘Interstellar’.

Satseg continues to push the boundaries of his sonic universe with consistent releases across his channels. The premiered ‘Neuromancer’ is a testament to his ability to create tracks that are as complex as they are captivating.
