Amsterdam’s music scene has long been known as a sanctuary for creativity and arts of all kinds, a quality that makes it full of surprises at every turn. And Pitched Peach is certainly one of them. Established in 2024, the young label has marked its second release, for which the crew behind it has cooked up something rather special.
The release features legendary producer John Spring, the renowned Berliner who has been making entire generations dance with his productions for over two decades. The record will bring to light two of his legendary unreleased tracks produced in the early 2000s and a remix by fellow veteran DJ and producer Falko Brocksieper who has been pulling the strings of sound exploration since 1993.
Over time, Spring has received recognition from artists such as The Ghost, Gene on Earth, and Sven Väth. His timeless productions have left an undeniable mark on the electronic music scene—not only on dance floors but also in record stores and beyond.
Today’s premiered track “FMMF” on side A1 delivers a promising intro with wavering rhythmic kicks, a great build-up for the electrifying melodic line that follows in shortly after and transcends into a proper Berlin-style banger. That old-school vibe is surely there, but thanks to his ageless signature sound, the piece feels more contemporary than ever.
Flipping over to side B1 and “Traum.a”’s choppy synths and quirky tunes set up the mood as soon as the track starts, paving the way for the captivating grooves and gripping vocals that come next. Brocksieper’s crisp and bouncy touch on his remix of the track takes us on a more progressive, dreamy path that lends “Traum.a” a particular charm.
PPEACH002 is available and it can be ordered here.
For those of you reading this from Japan or planning to visit later this month, John Spring will be performing at two of the country’s finest beat emporiums:
