At this point, there is little that can be said about Romanian trio RPR Soundsystem that has not been said before or that which that cannot say themselves through their performances. Forever at the forefront of “minimal” music they have long folded in a great many sonic expressions into their sound palette but perhaps outside of their own Romanian scenes one such city has had one of the most lasting impression on the music that they play and it is London.
From the bass heavy breaks and garage riddims that litter each of the members sets, they have a deep connection to the English capital, its music, clubbers and most importantly fabric. Individually, Raresh, Rhadoo and Pedro on occasion play at fabric and only Room 1, but collectively their appearances in the fabled dancing space is finite. Having not featured at the Farringdon subterranean venue since last December when Craig Richards invited RPR to headline Continuum alongside a crew of the finest selectors. Even in this company these three Romanian’s stood head and shoulders above.
In a tradition that stretches all the way back to 2008 (bar a few exceptions) RPR Soundsystem will again be performing in London and where else but fabric’s infamous Room 1. On Sunday, November 27th RPR Soundsystem will be playing an extended set but in a slightly different format from previous twilight instalments. Beginning at 6pm this Sunday session will run until 2am with the Romanian’s playing the majority of the time in Room 1. There, will of course be a supporting cast but it is safe to say that a lot of the feet in fabric will be moving to the hypnotic sounds of RPR.
