New York adds audiophilic club Signal NYC to its underground events landscape

New York City is never short of top-shelf dancing spaces, but few have all the right elements together in one package backed up by an underground music policy. Step forward, the newest addition to the Brooklyn clubbing landscape – Signal NYC. Set against the graffiti patchwork East Williamsburg’s Morgan Avenue, the unassuming, degraded metal club front oozes an understated yet industrial taste that gives little hint to what lies beyond the initial facade.

Offering an acoustic first focus, Signal NYC have pulled out all the stops to ensure that their soft opening program and venue blow minds from the moment the doors open. From the finely tuned 4-point d&b audiotechnik soundsystem to the bespoke visual and lighting installations, all the way through to the design of the bars and seating area inside the club and out in the garden, this intimate rave space will be an undoubted hit as it continues to unfurl its creative direction.

The true star of the show at Signal NYC is, without doubt, the sound treatment and approach to the behaviour of sound within this exciting space. With each piece of the jigsaw being carefully selected for its acoustic properties, the consideration for the listening experience truly is second to none. This is typified by the floating wooden dancefloor that is designed to reduce vibration and, in turn, will provide an unrivalled level of audio clarity seldom found in such an intimate club environment.

New York has always been central to the crossover point between fashion, design, and music, and the interior is a testament to this lineage. The minimalist seating paired with the ribbed metal diner-style bar somehow manages to hit a sweet spot between retro charm and futuristic vision. The stripped-back aesthetic will lend itself very nicely to the underground music offering that has recently offered an all-night long session from Gene On Earth, as well as past and present sets from Anna Wall, Aline Umber, Dana Ruh, Daniel Bell, Evan Baggs, Jane Seatle, Janeret, Maxime dB, Outcast Torino, Satoshie Tomiie, and Thomas Melchior.

As you can see by just some of the names that will be helping launch Signal NYC, there will be a wide and varied sound palette to choose from on any given night. Don’t expect to see extended videos from these parties, as there is a zero photo and video policy to ensure that when you join a party at Signal NYC you can fully disconnect.

For the official Signal NYC opening party on May 10th, Signal has collaborated with Golden Record NYC & Import/Export to show what the hottest new spot in Brooklyn really can do. For the occasion, they have drafted in a crack team of artists, both local and international, to offer a true showcase for all concerned. Headliners for the evening will be Among Trees aka Andrey Pushkarev b2b Eli Verveine as well as a live set from dub techno master Steve O’Sullivan. Support on the night will be provided by the regular faces of Gui Machado, J. Richards, Kiyoshi, Maksim, Omer Mil, and Vivian Wang.
