Premiere: 6 – Karl Fraunhofer – Oh Koi Joy [DGSD-005A]

Fifteen years in the game is no small thing, especially for a collective that has always preferred substance over noise. Oslo’s Det Gode Selskab has spent the last decade and a half quietly shaping its own lane through intimate parties, thoughtful curation and a catalog that never really sticks to one formula for too long. To mark the occasion, the crew returns with a new digital compilation that feels less like a retrospective and more like a snapshot of where their sound is heading next.

Our premiere track, “Oh Koi Joy” by label handler Karl Fraunhofer, sets the tone immediately. Electro-driven drums, sharp vocal chops and a restless groove make this one feel built for the later hours, when things get sweaty and slightly unpredictable.

Fabio Massimo takes a more introspective route with “Are We Almost There Yet”. Warm jazz Rhodes chords sit against electro-acoustics and heavily reverbed layers, creating a deep atmosphere.

Then comes “Seeds Of The Sacred Tree” from Constratti, a groove-heavy house track built around looping rhythms and arpeggiated synths that keep evolving in the background.

Phill Prince pushes the compilation further into house territory with “Well Do You”. Classic-sounding drums and subtle guitar touches add undeniable charm to the track.

Philipp Boss’ “Eins Zwei” introduces a lighter touch, drawing from disco influences with a relaxed groove and bright, catchy synths.

Closing things out, Ramona Yacef’s “Dating A Gemini” leans into darker territory with acid notes and a subtle tribal pulse running underneath.

What ties the whole project together is the sense that DGS still approaches releases with curiosity rather than obligation. For a label celebrating 15 years, that’s probably the best sign possible: they’re not looking backwards for too long.

DGSD-005A is yet to be released, but keep an eye on their Bandcamp for further updates.
