Over the years, the Leeds festival has flirted with several different event sites. Past plots include a country house estate, a city centre car-park, a cross-county showground and a racecourse sandwiched in for good measure. Now however, it seems they’ve finally found their home from home as they set up position at Newsam Green Farm.
A spokesperson at MiNT events has confirmed “this will be our permanent new home which we have purchased for all future events, transforming the farm into a purpose-built site”.
Proposed to feature rolling hills, magical woodlands and bricked orchard gardens, the new space really does sound spot on. Picturesque dance arenas blended into beautiful backgrounds of nature. The area as a whole appears to be bringing with it that mystical element of exploration that we so relish at the rave. Isn’t part of the reason many of us attend such events so we can go get lost in unchartered lands for a bit?
While the venues in the Mint Festival series have changed, the quality of the lineup has remained a constant. Year on year, Leeds favourites have returned to the roster, a tried and tested formula that has been built into the MiNT brand. This year is expected to be no different. A fine bunch of underground artists return catering for all shades of house and techno. A decade in the making has only added another reason to go big.
Four stages kitted out with the usual world class sound systems that the organisers have become well versed in sourcing will feature FUSE, Trick and Mint Presents. Ricardo Villalobos will of course take centre stage, with Raresh in tow further satisfying the side of minimal. Enzo Siragusa heads up the FUSE crew and East End Dubs will be bringing some signature grooves to boot. For the crate diggers out there The Ghost bring their ever expanding collection of rare vinyl from Berlin. Clearly there will be plenty of musical treats on offer and the lineup does not stop there. Of course support comes from the ever present and much loved residents Annie Errez and Bobby O’Donnell.
Like many of the larger scale events that have been announced in droves since Boris gave the green light for the potential lifting of all social limits in June, tickets for this one are being snapped up super fast. The remainder will primarily be available to those who have signed up for the final release here.
Final release tickets will be on pre-sale Friday 14th May from 9am, for those who signed up before midnight the night before. Any left over will be available in the general sale the following Monday 17th May from 9am.
