Indonesia is perhaps something of an underground music outpost, but thanks to the hardworking team behind Dunia Musik, the Southeast Asian province of Bali has become a hotspot for high-grade club music. Their recent events have involved one of the most recognisable ambassadors in Shonky, but they have also welcomed Adrien Calvet, Ben Rau, KOSH (live), SOSA, Job De Jong, and Vitess, to name just a few.
Their next event is arguably their biggest yet as they will host another massively in-demand Frenchman in Traumer. Taking place at their home of the low-key, yet luxuriously styled Ulu Cliffhouse on Sunday, May 26th, they throw open their doors to this hilltop haven late afternoon to avoid the heat. In turn, this allows for a slow build of energy throughout the early evening. The end goal is to provide Traumer the perfect stage from which to dazzle with his mix of dancefloor bombs, forgotten vocal edits, and multi-deck wizardry he is so renowned for.
On this occasion, the slow build will come courtesy of a range of local artists and residents who have helped to establish Dunia Musik as a go-to spot for underground music in Bali. Heading up the support is events and label head Gibs, and with him curating the first two releases on the associated label, who better to hand over to Traumer. He will be aided in this musical journey throughout the day by Thombac, Princeton, Pretty Liar, No ID, Papu, Scotty Cal, Ange, Deep Green, and Whoisg.
Dunia Musik have also built a solid reputation as an on-point record label, and the dedicated readers amongst you will have noticed we have recently presented their new vinyl-only EP from team member Signore Ray. This comes off the back of the previously well-received outings from Princeton, and Gibran, and adorned in coloured vinyl, it is clear that Dunia Musik cares just as much about their music output as their carefully curated events.
