Today, we debut the fourth release from Bali-based imprint and event series Dunia Musik, and for this next edition, Signore Ray is in charge. For this EP, there are five choice cuts available in their original form. Let’s dig in.
First of all, we take aim at A1 “Gotta Bring” and like the rest of the EP this is firmly focused on the sublime side of peak time action. Deep probing bass tones underpin proceedings with finely mixed drums taking centre stage throughout. Lush dubby chord stabs provide the smooth like butter vibe that pushes the energy levels skywards with help from some nicely chopped vocal samples.
Not allowing the vibe to drop one bit, A2 “Ayo Peanuts” kicks in nicely with crunchy snares, subtle rim shots, and an infectious acid bassline. The stop-start grooves really help to change things up, as does the arpeggiating synthline.
Flipping over to side B and B1 “Giggle Giggle” is even more sublime, the elongated pad stabs easily transports the listener to the sunkissed beaches of Bali. Instead of deserted beaches, you will find a thronging party in the making and the bumping bassline ensures that a great time is had by all.
Moving on to B2 and “Love Me Down” takes things down a notch as if allowing for a soft landing after the highs of the previous EP tracks. Forlorn pads combine with airy vocals and light synth stabs to lead into the main hooky vocal section. Completing the offering with a bang is “Invisible Signature”, and the undulating bassline and raspy snares hint at a note-worthy finish to the EP, and they would be correct.
This EP proves that there is indeed a bubbling scene in Indonesia, and Dunia Musik is testament to this, as well as the events Dunia also puts on, as they have recently hosted the likes of Shonky, Adrien Calvet, and have an upcoming blockbuster with Traumer on Sunday, May 25th.
