Premiere: B2 – Shonky – Fido Dido (Robin Ordell Remix) [HB013]

Having put on some of the most hotly tipped events in London for the past 10 years the Half Baked crew know a thing or two about what music works on the dancefloor. This is just as much down to their insanely skilled residents as much as their industry leading guests.

So, for the 13th Half Baked vinyl only release we here at Trommel are lucky enough to enjoy a meeting of both international headliner and talented resident artist. Known for his inane ability to construct a groove solid enough to keep a packed dancefloor captivated for hours on end, Frenchman Shonky was a shoo-in for the perfect artist to produce an EP as part of the brands 10-year celebrations.

Making his debut on the label with this bumping 3 track EP Shonky wastes no time in setting up that groove that both he and his Apollonia cohorts are so famous for. However, it is B2 where we head to straight away as resident and rising artist in his own right Robin Ordell has taken Shonky’s track “Fido Dido” and flipped it for the darker, more peak time hours. Where the original bounded with crisp hi-hats and a more heads-up swagger, Robin’s reworking closes ranks and concentrates on the groove, subtly blooming pads and no-nonsense bassline. Both original and remix will surely feature heavily at Half Baked events and also at the myriad of gigs that Apollonia have locked into their busy schedule, so expect to hear this on a big rig near you soon.

The EP is already available in stores and you can grab your copy from Juno.co.uk.
