Premiere: B1 – Leite Dos Santos – Tanakh [USR014]

Undersound 014 artwork

Undersound start the decade on an electro tip with their first output of 2020 following their previously premiered 13th installment, leaning more towards house layered territories. Leite Dos Santos, the alias of an undisclosed producer shapes four expressive cuts for the label’s 14th vinyl release, another favourite of Nicolas Lutz, Binh, DJ masda and more.

The identifiable cosmic strain associated with both the label and bookings of the Undersound outfit runs throughout the EP. ‘Tanakh’ is the most house-centered of the four. Contemplative pads wash over stiff bassline notes looping over a 4/4 formula littered with celestial atmospheres.

Honing a slower tempo produces relaxed and delicate energy without losing sight of the dance floor. Intricate arpeggiating synths slide into the top end, appearing in response to the bassline with great effect.

Sustained chords and heavy reverbs remain throughout the track, calling for a special after-hours moment in the likes of Hoppetosse and Closer Kiev.

The rest of the EP flexes a series of sharp, menacing hardware jams. Distorted 808 drum patterns fizzle over vintage sounding synth lines and bubbling basslines lathered with emotion.
