Textures Ltd are back with their next release on wax. The Middle Eastern label have continued to feature on our pages, through both digital and record release. The latest physical contribution to the growing catalogue of treats comes from French producer Vadim Oslov.
The artist is becoming a firm fixture on the label, having also contributed to the first digital VA released back in 2020. Also fronting his own platform Ochii Records, Oslov has been busy of late channeling productions across a varied base. His ‘Apocolyptica’ EP offers space for three original tracks and a remix from Bucharest based Crihan.
Deep minimal fuses through the title track. An eery introduction sets the scene of an atmospheric introspection, centred around pulsating bassline and steady, chugging sub. A quaint melody plays softly in between tickling percussion and echoed acapella.
Synths manipulate, bongos layer gently and sounds of the organic feed through the duration. An interesting story blending natural with the robotic, a mix of gentle pleasantries remain grounded by a slow and serious undertone. Squelching, tapping and tripping into a calm and captivating state.
This punching slap of beat continues into the EP, blending theatric minimal next on ‘Under Creapy Opera’. As the title suggests, there’s an uneasiness to the elements, but interesting all the same. ‘Druidic Mixture’ takes on the B side, with a remix from Crihan. Deep, eeriness remains with an injection of smooth groove and a focused, piano led melody.
Buy the record from deejay.de or Juno, due for release 3rd June.
