Amsterdam-based label and party series Atrium Records have been steadily building a solid reputation for top drawer house and minimal. With previous artists on the label Fedo, Raz, Red Meat Therapy appearing, all have turned in deeply immersive bodies of work. Now onto their fourth release, they now welcome French, Berlin-based artist Hustache who turns in four stunning deep house cuts with a more peak time minimal workout from Topper.
Today we head straight to the Topper remix of “Destiny” and where the original is full of low slung attitude the remix dials up the intensity to 11. Retaining the atmospheric vocals and paddy keys, the CDV regular raises the pressure with higher BPMs and crunchy percussion. Swapping the gnarled synth for a more wide eyed vision Topper transforms “Destiny” into a deep heater with peak time credentials.
Circling back to the top of the release and “Glidin” makes good on the promise of the track title with a wonky synth that glides about the auditory spectrum to fine effect. This beatless intro serves as the perfect lead in to the rest of the finely curated release. “Gimme Something New” slinks along at a very satisfying pace with the addition of the sultry female vocals and delicate percussion.
Rounding out another very tidy release from Atrium Records is “One Soft Touch” and the smoky atmosphere from Hustache ensures a soft landing for the EP by way of the trippy synths that dance their way through the track. For those looking for laidback grooves with plenty of bite look no further than Atrium Records and the back cataloge that is amassing nicely.
Hustache has been gaining attention lately in the deep house community. His tracks, subtly blending jazz harmonies, deep house grooves, and melodic lines, have been played all over Europe this year in top venues and festivals such as Hoppetosse, Club der Visionäre, and Butik festival. This new EP on Atrium definitely marks a milestone for the producer’s young career.
