Trommel.197 – Suciu

A well known face in the minimal scene, Romanian artist Suciu is a force of nature when he steps foot into the DJ booth. Presenting an unshakable facade when in the mix his only break in focus is to offer a wry smile that hints at the magic that is about to unfurl from the soundsystem.

This is a story that seems to follow Suciu around as each and every performance. From the woods of La Nature Festival to the sweaty dancefloor of Club Guesthouse and far beyond, a welcome pattern has long been formed. We don’t need to tell you how integral Suciu is to the Romanian minimal scene as he is consistently at the center of each and every marquee event.

As well as being able to captivate a dancefloor from the first beat to the last, Suciu also has serious skills in the studio too. Having already provided some fine wax moments courtesy of his releases on Playedby, Pressure Traxx, Memoria Recordings, and Body Parts he also has a wealth of material in his locked via his alias alongside Emi as Ritmico.

Countless mainstage occasions all benefit from the deft touch that this extended set specialist offers and this is exactly where we find Suciu. We are lucky to present a staggering seven hour recording of the Bucharest native locked in a groove that covers a myriad of sounds. Taken from the recent at his hometown’s Platforma Wolff, one of Bucharest’s best kept secrets that prides itself on the quality of its bookings and a set this long from an artist like Suciu speaks volumes. Covering deep dubby house, disco flecked heaters, and of course some of the most unidentifiable minimal that you have ever heard and perhaps will never hear again. For those heading to 3 Smoke Olives you will be able to get another chance to hear some of these magical tracks and he will also be making his way Stateside for three dates starting this very weekend.
