Few artists are as comfortable behind a set of turntables as they are commanding banks of hardware gear, American / Puerto Rican Amo is one such artist. By his own admission, he has been enthralled by technology, but it is his love of drums that has focused much of his musical direction. Groove and rhythm either by way of a twelve-inch record or a drum machine have informed his connection to the many subgenres that make up his sound palette.
Having been introduced to the deeper, techier side of house music by Chad Andrew, Randall M, and David Gtronic he would later go on to produce critically acclaimed music alongside them. Since those formative days, Amo has gone on to deliver works for SCI+TEC, Vatos Locos, BlkMarket Music, NG Trax, Tzinah, Bla Bla Music, and KiNa Music amongst others.
With the American-based Out of Office Records boss being in high demand both in charge of his Eurorack ensemble or with his record bag in toe, we have hooked Amo in to deliver a slab of magic for our Free Download series. And deliver he has. A filtered 303 bassline is the focal point of the groove here with thudding drums driving the dancefloor forward, the stripped-back percussion is given plenty of space to work its shuffling magic.
