Bulgaria is home to one of the most picturesque stretches of the Balkans and their spot nestled on the southern tip of the Black Sea is simply stunning. So, imagine a three-day non-stop festival that collects together the very best musical talent the region has to offer and give them the freedom to take their crowd on an intimate journey.
This is the exact ethos of Wake Up Stran-Jah down to a tee, with Berlin based Bulgarian artist Laylla Dane as head curator the event has gone from strength to strength since she took the helm in 2018. The DIY festival organically sprouts from the local scene in Bulgaria and nurtures the vast talent that resides in the area. This gives them the platform required to launch a successful career in the electronic music industry.
The once small-scale gathering began as a party that collected together like-minded souls and the festival may have grown in size but the mind-set remains the same. Now, in the first of a series of promotional parties Wake Up Stran-Jah will be decamping to the intimate Berlin setting of Hoppetosse. A venue that recognises the values of WUS and that caters for the musical journeys that are at the bedrock of the festival there was really only one choice.
Taking place on Sunday, November 28th Hoppetosse will welcome aboard Animals on Psychedelics label visionary Carl H, Ukraine’s finest from Closer Karine & Shakolin, festival resident Garo, of course festival curator Laylla Dane and Phormatik who will provide the visual trip. This event, like the festival is a trip best enjoyed together and so it is highly recommended that you arrive early to experience the journey as it was intended. The good news is that WUS x Hoppetosse will be the first in a series of several planned promo events for the next years’ main event. Roll on August 2022 when the trip begins for real…
