Premiere: A2 – Mitch Wellings – 90 Steps [SPACETOURS002]

Space Tours have come up with some creative during lockdown. They’ve launched some nice t-shirts. They’ve dedicated weekly Instagram ‘Selections Of The Week’ stories, showcasing record selections from some well respected selectors as well as supporting up and coming UK talent. Now, they’re releasing the second in their record series. After the success of the debut release, label boss Mitch Wellings returns with more of the goods.

Space Tours 002 is packed with material, featuring three originals from the man himself with a remix thrown in for good measure. The tracks themselves are current and fresh, certainly not just your run of the mill minimal tech. Wellings has his own style brimming with flavour and each track on the EP offers something a bit different.

’90 Steps’ is full of flair. The deep, breaks beat offers a stripped back rhythm with a simple, filtered organ at the center. Comforting vibes drift from the warm chords that float underneath the sharp percussion. As the melodies dance over the beat, the frequencies that make them effortlessly massage your eardrums. Breakdowns of minimalistic moments define the simple pleasantries within this one.

These deep and cheery feels are mirrored across Wellings’ other productions. The record opens with ‘Break It Down’, the energetic one that features a thumping beat and driving intergalactic synths. While ‘All The Stars’ on the B side delivers some sort of introspective hypnosis, complimented by a 4/4 Sunset Dub that injects a smooth energy courtesy of Nemo Vachez. The Forest Ill label boss featured well in our top 100 tracks last year with an impressive four titles selected.

Space Tours 001 sold out within 24 hours, so don’t waste any time with the next. Release date expected 7th August at Juno and deejay.de.
