In our recent feature about Rakya the sound of Nemo Vachez was described by his team as “aquatic”, “festive” and “very intelligent”. Let’s dive into all those qualities in his debut at the LowMoneyMusicLove label, part of which will be premiered today.
So, A2. “Slomo4”. Probably, the closest one to my all-time favorite by him when it comes to the mood – “House Latin No Year” (not “by him”, but… you’ll get it, right?). Carnival vibes, almost Latin percussion and build-up like at some very old Chicago Trax records. Catchy melody and constantly changing vibes… no, stop, not really vibes, but structure. I remember, when he played it live in my city at the start of 2022, a few people (including myself) just stopped dancing and tried to understand what would happen next. You will never guess, by the way. If you checked his track “Accordion” on Unknown To The Unknown – that should be your main orientation point – the same great start, then – some deep part, the only difference here is the comeback of the main melody at the end. Definitely goes into my collection of NV favs.
Now – to the others. The record starts with the track “Underwater Energy” – and that probably, goes to our “aquatic” category. Deep, melodic piece of Nemo. Add some dolphin sounds – and Azealia Banks will easily jump by with some rap. “Take Ur Time” here got some evolution – like the fish that stepped on the sand for the first time ever. Stepped and started dancing immediately. And, finally, we have a lot of French vocals in “ABC Simulator”. Nemo usually works with them perfectly, so it’s love at first sight. Catchy melody is a bonus (again).
