Italian imprint eau de parfum returns with another edition of its vinyl-only series. Founder Davide Leone strikes again with four original cuts of supercharged Italo bangers.
If you are feeling the stresses of rejoining the world after your weekend antics, Davide’s A2 offering “Inner Rage” is the perfect Monday solution. Stripped-back grooves shift focus to the moody synth stabs and the excellent undulating bassline, and we are certain that within a few moments, you will be transported back to the middle of a full-throttle dancefloor. Haunting synth notes float through the breakdown like an apparition and disappear into the depths of the pummeling bassline.
“Bright Tropical Fish” completes side A, and the punchy toms offer the crux of the groove throughout with fizzing snare hits and scything hi-hats piercing the mix at every turn. Keeping the action to a bare minimum, fluted synths arpegiate nicely, giving just the right amount of musicality to raise the intensity levels to boiling point.
Flipping over and side B begins with “The control future (but we love each other) is as much an emotionally charged peak time track as you will find. The Italo Disco roots came to the fore as the soaring synth line and bassline work to gleen as much good energy as possible. A great way to kick off the other side of a record after the more floor-focused action from side A. Completing the fourth edition of eau de parfum Leone presses on with the more Italo-edged sound on “Cyber Sweat” but with a distinctly futuristic direction. As you will have come to expect from EDP there is no worries with the impact of the grooves as they always hit the spot. Synths arc across the track like lightning bolts from the sky and the retro drum machine percussion sounds keep one foot in the storied past while taking giant leap into the future.
