Our next premiere comes from an artist already at the top of our agenda. Just last week we had the pleasure of presenting Innershades on the Trommel podcast. The Fuse (Brussels) resident is particularly known for high energy, electro basslines. Inspired by old school sounds of the New Beat genre, that has seen a resurgence in recent years.
Amongst a slew of releases across a bunch of labels, Innershades champions his own platform Altered Circuits. Since launching with his own EP back in 2021, he has invited Polarius and DMX Crew to the fold. Now we see the start of a new series of EPs from the man himself, driven by the intention to celebrate his own inspirations and influences.
From Heritage Vol. 1 we have ‘The After Hours Club’ on the premiere. A heavy hitting snare sets the backbone to this peak time performer. Energy drives through a melodic bassline that is just oozing with old school feels. It’s an infectious rhythm, a beat laced with acidic synth riding the groove.
Although relatively short in length, this track packs punch throughout. It becomes more vibrant in its progression, layers of electro led by bells chiming and squelching highs. Intensity peaks at the break, as the bassline lifts, making way for party primed sample circulating speech of drugs and techno music. The After Hours Club…
Energy rides across the EP, thriving for the most part with a deeper, more twisted effect in Eternal Voices on A2. Purveyors of the New Beat sound will be left most satisfied with this one, ready for the series to continue.
Buy the record from deejay.de, or Juno, due for release on 24th March.
