One records return to the vinyl market with a three-part release marking 10 years of the label. 12 tracks showcase both newcomers and frequent faces, honouring the historic sultry tech house sound of the imprint, as well as welcoming a new era of contemporary influences in breakbeat and garage flavours through the likes of Adam Pits and Urulu.
Label head Subb-an opens the release in the premiered A1 ‘Sunrise Mood’, wrapping a euphoric pad sequence in slick UK rhythms. The vibe of the drum programming rings bells of early 2000s Terry Francis and his Wiggle imprint, with bouncy hats slotting neatly between a mean, heads down bassline and snappy snares.
Influences of the London artist grow evident as the arrangement unfolds. Ravey, machine driven sounds enter the mix during the main breakdown, marrying an arpeggiated sequence lusciously against warm, sunrise friendly pads, creating a satisfying juxtaposition.
Combining over a decade of influences in the game, Subb-an’s contribution to this 10-year anniversary release caters for a multitude of bliss-inducing moments on the dance floor, and is sure to find its way into the bag of several selectors across the circuit.
