Premiere: A1 – Laidlaw & Le Louche – Ah Ha [BEEY006]

Laidlaw & Le Louche - BEEYOU 006 artwork

The worker bees have certainly been busy grafting over at BEEYOU Records. In three years, the outfit has grown from a simple idea born of a Summer season in Ibiza into something much bigger. The now UK based label quickly established itself as a force in the minimal community, growing a family built upon a hive featuring several labels and regular releases. The latest is almost ready to go and it features names both old and new, including label co-owner Laidlaw & Le Louche.

It’s the growing list of an already impressive bunch that is a real credit to this collective, starring some of London’s finest artists alongside the up-and-coming. And the music is always on point. We’ve had BEEY002, BEEY003 and BEEY005 all featuring on the premiere and this will no doubt continue.

Laidlaw & Le Louche team up to open the latest edition with ‘aH Ha’. A deep coolness blends with pleasant house melodies, resulting in a well-rounded cut of deep house. Percussion lightly taps in full swing as soft organ synth teases the big moments. What follows is a big bassline, tickled by a refreshing vocal and a weaving line of melodic groove.

An electronic injection is laced with filter, building momentum before flip reversing back to the more melancholic. Twists and turns keep you guessing where it’s going to go next, from one feeling to the next. Mixing elements of rave with the deep and quirky makes for a few welcome surprises.
