Premiere: A1 – Kurilo – Take The Excitement [TRP001]

London-based Tripsitter Records is one of the latest additions to the label market, a freshly launched project that aims to provide a sanctuary to underground, like-minded artists and deliver an audio-visual experience with each release and project they curate.

For their first release, The Inward Journey EP, they collaborated with no less than four artists: Ukrainian-born Kurilo, a frequent appearance on Trommel, Budapest-based KVRK, T.S.O. aka The Sugar Orchestra, and UK-based Dan Jubley.

Gritty percussion and spatial pads set a mystical tone that defines Kurilo’s premiere track, “Take The Excitement” on A1, while echoed acid lines drift through the piece. The atmosphere he crafted feels hazy and subtly trippy, a signature statement of his craft.

Driven by rhythmic congas and a riser-infused ambience, KVRK’s track “Signal” on A2 unfolds in a hypnotic loop. The echo-tinged acid motif is a defining element of the track, giving it a vibrant, captivating character.

A classic Roland percussion lays the foundation of T.S.O.’s “Quality” on B1 as metallic synth textures slice through the groove. Shifting patterns reshape the dynamics of the track towards its closing, highlighting its complexity.

Last but not least, Jubley’s “Stepping Nicely” with the clave and conga accents on his track on B2, a playful touch along with the puzzling vocal samples and driving sub that shape the minimalist landscape of the piece.

„Through each release, Tripsitter Records seeks to curate an evolving spectrum of art and sound that will mix tough drums and deep basslines with introspective soundscapes and surreal artworks that invite the listener into the recesses of their own mind.”

The Inward Journey EP is soon to be released, and until its due date, it can be pre-ordered in both digital and wax versions.
