Premiere: A1 – Generali Minerali – Acid Tears [USR019]

USR019

Undersound Records invite Tbilisi-based producer Generali Minerali for their 19th release.

The prolific London collective have been a consistent face across the capital for many years, regularly inviting the likes of Binh, Nicolas Lutz and Onur Özer for steamy, extended sessions.

Defining their sound within emotive and often haunting realms between techno and electro-tinged club music, the crew’s output is loaded with passion.

Taste-making releases from the likes of Sohrab and Jarred Wilson have been pivotal across the scene in both Europe and further afield, with regular support from many selectors across the eclectic, deep digging circuit.

Generali Minerali slots perfectly into this devoted collective with a versatile, electro-leaning four tracker. On top of a seasoned studio habit leading to his first vinyl release for Munch’s RFR and a healthy Bandcamp output, the Georgian artist is also the sound engineer and booker for DRAMA Bar in Tbilisi.

Opening up the record with the most emotive pick, Minerali heads straight for the heart strings in the eloquent explorations of ‘Acid Tears’.

Gritty, analogue drums set the tone with a deep 808 palate, snapping between a tight broken rhythm. Energies are fierce and expressive, navigating a menacing acid line and devastating snare drums, whilst remaining soaked with a gentle tenderness that could bring tears to the right dance floor.

The dedication to this corner of straight up, no frills dance music is evident throughout the release. Sticking predominantly to the retroverted aesthetic of drum machine-driven tracks, the Georgian artist reveals a doorway into his soul in these lean, spirited ventures.

‘Brain Shake’ turns up the heat on the A-side, upping the tempo and mood with a nimble acid line loaded with pressure. ‘808 Dream’ brings a more subdued affair, coated with a humble electro influence from the late Microlith works, as Generali mentions him as a big inspiration in the studio.

Concluding the record home with a wholesome acid venture in ‘Evening Mood’, moods dip towards melancholic territories, washing comforting pads over slick, cruisey percussion work.

Each piece from this release offers a unique expression suited to the peak time, warm up and after-hours on the dance floor; and is sure to be the soundtrack to many blissful movements upon return to the rave.
