Pickled Live returns for another on location live recorded session

Rather than retreading old ground, perhaps travelled by the likes of The MUDD Show and Boiler Room, Pickled Live takes the live recording / stream format and turns it on its head. Having just released their third edition, Pickled Live looks to collaborate with promoters and artists that are associated with their own wider suite of labels. Taking this ethos one step further, they look to shine a light on the artists who make the scene turn in their respective cities. Once the shows are captured in glorious high definition, they are then uploaded to YouTube for all to see.

Another aspect of this project is the offbeat locations where they set up their parties. Choosing to beam their vision from everyday spots that give an insight into everyday life in the city of each respective crew, Pickled Live launched in London’s Hackney Gallery with the aid of Under The Hatch. This organic approach to live recording breathes a much-needed natural element into the already tried and tested format.

The next edition took Pickled Live north of the border to Scottish coastal city Dundee, where they hooked up with burgeoning team Motus. Having almost single-handedly propped up their underground scene, their group of associated artists has helped to propel the brand and its parties into a stage of parity with events around Europe. For the occasion, they “set up shop” in the city’s EH9 Espresso coffee shop, and what makes this all the more interesting is that the shop was open to the public, and the bustle of everyday life in the background, coupled with the DJ’s soundtrack, makes for captivating viewing.

The most recent edition took Pickled Live to Manchester, where they hooked up with Michael JamesMoving People brand. This edition took a slightly different format from previous episodes, where they pitched up to city centre venue Renae. This multi-use space would be the location for a combined Pickled Live show and Moving People showcase. This spin-off instalment would see individually filmed sets from Michael James, t.na, Nolga, and Adrian Fairless, with an extended session ensuing on the decks once the cameras stopped filming. This edition also kicks off the “Keep It Moving” series of parties too, so make sure you keep em peeled for news on the next edition.

Pickled Live is only the latest in a long line of assets in a bulging package of creative outlets that fall under the Pickled Music banner. Having recently launched “The Pickle”, the edit-centric label instantly sold out their debut release. This is hardly surprising given the calibre of the music that is a mainstay across all their associated imprints. In the pipeline are more releases from the Pickled family, which includes Into The Woods, Taste The Rainbow Records, Occult Vision Recordings, The Pickle, and a brand new imprint – Afterwoods.
