Spanish party brand Roots has over the past five years grown to become more than just a collection of events. Since that first fateful party in 2016, their home club of Goya Social Club has become a safe haven for house and techno of all shades. To celebrate this impressive milestone the Madrid-based collective has put together an equally impressive 38 track VA that will be available via their Bandcamp page.
The monster release points to the caliber of guests and the strength of their own home-grown artists too. The regular headliners that regularly join the fray in Madrid make up a healthy portion of those featured in this release with names such as Janeret, Michael James, Shaun Reeves, Giorgio Maulini, Ben Balance, Leon, Traumer, Ben Balance, Djebali, DJ W!ld, Dragutesku, Miller, Monika Ross, Nima Gorji, Jorge Savoretti, and Den Haas amongst many others all contributing tracks to the digital release.
As well as the visiting dignitaries, there is also a huge number of local artists that are currently breaking into the light. From the Roots stable of artists and their Spanish compadres that include HONS, Alfie, Alvaro Medina, Hanfry Martinez, Isbel, Lose Endz, and Enzo Leep who is also responsible for the pristine masters. The sound palette is as expansive as the tracklisting and it covers everything from glitch minimalism, funky breaks, and lush deep groovey house. Roots were set to launch their European tour this year but this is a fitting replacement for the time being while our club scene continues to unlock.
The VA is available via the Roots Bandcamp page.
