Priku joins the More Than Music family with a menacing remix in their 10th release.
The Ibiza based record store and label continue a fine curation that has been a frequent face within our premieres. Scouting a variety of producers within the stripped back domains, the label has formed an identity within sultry club music.
Crihan, Triptil and Vincentiulian are among the label’s roster, contributing to an identity that is shaped equally by the minimalist movement, as much as the traquli nature of the White Isle. Sounds are elegant and considered, casting a warm, sunkissed vibe you can imagine hearing round the clock at the likes of Ibiza Underground and The Zoo Project.
UVAR and Botanic Minds artist Barut slots idyllicly into the label’s repertoire, shaping three deftly hypontic cuts. The Miami based artist has been spreading a similar laid back vibe, hosting a number of saught after releases under his belt.
Tapping back into their Romanian tendencies, the label’s 10th release invites Priku for remix duties. Injecting a tougher groove, the prolific producer brings a piquant depth to the record.
Rarely dipping into any breakdowns, the Atipic boss lets the groove run wild in this 8-minute piece. Muted bass notes dart between a sharp beat, fizzing with subtle details burried in and around the groove.
Diving into this brave, repetitive approach shows signs of a seasoned producer in impeccable form. Sounds are littered with micro-details, evoking emotion via whispy textures and modular-like bleeps that sound like the product of an extended hardware jam. Gain further insight into Priku’s world of modular in his recent sample pack for Sample Market.
It’s this level of detail and sound design that gives the minimal movement its global respect. Expressing pensive and intimate emotions through the most subtle and minute grooves, Priku’s remix work showcases the effect of allowing elements to grow and build; eventually portraying something that feels part of a bigger picture.
Barut’s original works explore more hopeful, divine atmospheres. ‘Cuantiz’ opens the record with a stunning synth workout, dripping with lush reverbs and neat percussive work.
‘Legunia’ flaunts a more subdued affair. Backed by a chuggy, stripped back beat that sets the tone for the rest of the release. ‘Decima’ follows with a nimble bassline, squirming between delicate, after-hour friendly rhythms.
Alongside their label catalogue, More Than Music host a physical record store in Ibiza. Covering a variety of new and used vinyl, the store also caters for DJ and production equipment, as well as an impressive stock of second hand vintage synthesizers.
