Stephan Bazbaz already has a modest list of releases across a handsome bunch of world renowned labels. Yet he has also found the time to focus on and develop his own No Waves Records. Based in Tel Aviv, Bazbaz and said label are clearly in good company, a city which is well known for its vibrant underground scene.
Several of the releases on No Waves feature the productions of Bazbaz himself and the next one is no different. As is true to form however, a remixer has been invited along for the occasion. This time it is Per Hammar. Fresh off the back of a long awaited, debut studio album from which we premiered here just last month, there is clearly no stopping this man right now.
No Waves 007 saves a slot over on the B side for Per Hammar’s remix of ‘Futures’. Typically, it’s a deep and thoughtful one. The attention to detail is evident as smooth synth samples drift from one to another over the subtle grooving bassline. It’s a clever combination of energy and easy listening, emanating a warmth from hollow chords while at the same time pulsating rhythm to dance. This isn’t the first ‘Dubb’ to come from the Swedish artist, who is well versed in delivering dub infused rollers delicately primed with dancing melodies.
Details of where and when we can expect this one to be released are yet to be confirmed, so keeps your eyes peeled.
