Heko Records welcome Patrizio Gabrielli for the label’s eight release.
Tracks from the release first surfaced in the sets of Raresh and Giammarco Orsini three years ago, remaining unreleased until now, marking the Rome-based producers second vinyl release.
Each cut on the four track release explores neat, retro-influenced moods. Rhythms are tight and punchy, hosting head-turning basslines and deep, eyes-shut atmospheres.
The premiered ‘Kashimir’ works with a cosmic palate, gifting space in the mix to ethereal pads softly unfolding over a simple looping low end and an ear worm acid lead. Sounds are hopeful and positive, with an obvious nod to the 90s rave aesthetic, Gabrielli’s works are a prime example of the new school breed of producers pushing a reduced, rave inspired house sound.
‘Astra’ and ‘Polylove’ offer blissful, sun-kissed moods on the A side. ‘Astra’s uplifting bassline rocking against its slick, swung percussion has been a frequent in Raresh’s sets, boasting a versatile, club ready energy that could soundtrack a hot basement just as comfortably as a cliff-side sunset.
Works from this calibre of artists around Heko Records in the likes of Giammarco Orsini, Plantae and Patrizio Gabrielli appear to have found an aesthetic that falls into the sets of many selectors, merging warm, deep atmospheres with club ready grooves.
HR008 concludes with a secret weapon B side in ‘Tribe’. Broken rhythms slap against a mean bassline which pairs perfectly with a stunning keys melody.
