Premiere: B1 – Dj Tjizza – Sulforaphania [CM002]

Dutch DJ and producer DJ Tjizza has quickly become a firm Trommel favourite. It’s hard to believe that before the pandemic, the Mood Waves label boss had only two solo releases and one co-run label, LowMoneyMusicLove. As dance floors open up, the Berlin-based artist  emerges from the past 15 months with another three releases and two labels under his belt – including Conceptual Moods.

As showcased in the label’s debut, DJ Tjizza showcased his inner-romantic with his charming melody and new wave inspired bassline. For the label’s second release, Ferry To Faridpur, the labelhead travels deeper and more melodramatic roads with ‘Sulforaphania’.

We properly fell in-love with the Dutchman’s music with the boisterous antics of ‘Amonal V‘, since then, we’ve seen him push his synths deeper and into more melodic territory. Sulforaphania boasts what have quickly becoming quintessential Tjizza drums with the snares packing a punch, but the emotional qualities of the track arise from the vibrant embrace of the bass and the gliding, retro-futurists melody which beautifully intertwine for a track that touches you on that just slightly deeper level.

Also featuring on the EP is a debut from newcomer Lasha Nikoleishvili with ‘Kaprichio’, combining thumpin’ ‘n’ throbbin’ drums with a solemn melody for a punishing yet comforting afterhour number that’s sure to jolt energy into any tired dancer’s legs. On ‘Just A Little Further’, Norwegian producer A:G swiftly pivots the journey down a darker route with a haunting melody, crystallised strikes of chords and a jacking 303 bassline that encapsulates both a menacing and emotional touch as the best acid often does.

Joining Tjizza on the B-side is firm DJ Tjizza and Trommel favourite Italian producer Jacopo Latini, who’s also had a hell of artistic period during the pandemic, with his B2 track ‘Daydream #445′, offering up a melancholic slice of electronic funk with a gliding, retro melody, robotic vocals and a chunky slice of bass that you can’t possibly go wrong with.

Conceptual Moods’ Ferry To Faridpur EP will be available to purchase Juno, Decks, or any good record store.
