Premiere: B1 – Denis Kostitsyn – Ufimec [OTD008]

For Outdom Records’ eighth release they welcome back to the fold label friend Denis Kostitsyn. Taking charge for a solo EP his work spans five tracks that take in a range of bass heavy electro sounds.

We firstly take aim at B1 track “Ufimec” and through the gloom of the enveloping bassy shroud comes the piercing riddims, raspy synths and an energy that is focused squarely at the dancefloor. Next up on side B is “Ca$halot” and working with a more electro house direction. Kostitsyn makes great use of the dark bass tones and the vocal clips and bell like sound effects that seem to wrap around it add to the trip. Completing side B is the breaks of “1234” and continuing the bass fueled theme serves up a slightly more upbeat menu than previous tracks.

Flipping back over to side A, “Stage Manager” is the intended beginning to the EP and it is just as heavy hitting as the before mentioned tracks. Bleepy synths work together with the thick bass line and the scything percussion to produce a robotic heater worthy of A1. Completing the release is “Hipushit Happens” and edging down a dark garage route, and the EP massively benefits from this direction. With a great many sounds touched upon already, the warping bass tones extend downwards to far reaches of the sound spectrum. There they are et with the familiar snare riddims and the wiggly acid tones of a 303.
