Romanian crew ABC. – ‘Always Bring Cash’ have been cooking up quite the storm, with a solid stream of releases and successful event programming, ABC are quickly becoming a party force to be reckoned with. Considering the crew consists of top artists, Herck, Somesan, Bread&Butter, Stan and Timirash, this comes as little surprise. Their last vinyl pressing saw a top notch 4 track EP from Romanian trio Lisière Collectif, whose music possesses a uniquely charming energy which saw fat beats and mind-melting pads combine across the release.
Next up they present the “Dub Police” EP from Arad-based producer and DJ, Bread&Butter. This 2-track slice of goodness tells long tales dealing with abstract themes, choppy percussion and stargazing synthesis.
Booting off the A side is title track “Dub Police” where Bread&Butter pays homage to the spirit of dub techno through a well-thought-out minimal arrangement. Modular-style plucks and dub-delay percussion meander and evolve throughout the piece, providing a unique backbone over which the story is told. A sense of danger and alarm is hinted at, as siren-like motifs are presented with a near-foghorn pad raising caution. This one could really cause some trouble played in the darker hours of the night.
We have decided to premiere B1. “La Sare”, a deep dive with tight percussion and mesmerising pads that punches and plods as the story develops, the narrative aided by tasteful and technical touches and interjections from some soulful vocal shots. This moody number cooks up a storm as it progresses, the combination of sounds are definitely carved to do some damage on bigger sound systems. With unique stories told across two sides of wax this EP is really something quite special, grab your copy now while you can.
