Having united officially on Pressure Traxx some time ago, long time friends Arno and Paul Walter collab again via their Paularner alias. This time they have converged on on-point Italian label Micro Orbit Records for the three track “Words of Wisdom” EP.
We start with A1 “Narco Dollar Health Care” and ever the thought provokers, this long form jam clocks in at well over thirteen minutes. With a penchant for meandering minimal jams, Walter and Arno combine to produce a swaggering crunch laden DJ tool that weaves in amongst the swinging percussion a topical point on Narco dollars. The warped and garbled musings play just as big a part in the track as the rebounding bassline that wanders throughout.
Flipping over and “Dead End” is even more mystical in its content with a haunting vocal shadowing the bass heavy action coming via the tuned toms and bass tones. The low slung grooves dovetail effortlessly with the drawled vocals and eerily draw out crystalline pads. Rounding out this fantastic workout from Paularner is “The Wizz”. Stripped back to its core of penetrating percussion and deeply tuned kicks, the insistent breaky groove works its way into the ear with help from an unknown commentator.
