EYA Records is continuing its pace and gives us Lake Haze with a gorgeous 4-tracker. Having known about him for nearly a decade, I was prepared for the sounds, that might be inside, but still wasn’t prepared for the beauty we got for ourselves today. And high five, if you got tricked by the name.
No, “Vamos A La Playa” is not some edit of the song, you probably just murmured to yourself. It’s the last track of the EP, a very short one, as you can see. With one of the best melodies, you’ll hear this year. When we got Sweely on Ninja Tools not so long ago, I wrote that his track was the perfect closer for any set this year.
After this one – I wouldn’t say FOR ANY. If you want to close your set on some more melancholic note that Sweely offered – pick this one. Literally, my favorite melody of 2023 so far, can’t say how often it was on repeat these days. And that delicate acid also… Perfect ending. Just one thing – it’s too short, so, based on your love for the DJ after you, you can use it as a final track or the second track from the end of your set.
The release is starting with “Everything Was Melting” – like the whole record, a very synthy piece. With quiet epic chords. Rave in a church. “Latin Machina” takes us into electro territory with some – surprise-surprise! – not German man-machine vocals. “Highway Lights” starts what its B2 neighbor will later continue – mid-80s highway drive, a bit pacier though than our premiere today.
