With this new record, Too Smooth Christ definitely lives up to his name. He somehow, no matter the kind of music he makes, succeeds to make it so smooth, and smoother again. As he works his magic, he is taking us around different genres and vibes while keeping a strong and unique imprint. He delivers four powerful tracks, all completely different and suitable for very different atmospheres or moments of a party.
However, he surprises us on this EP with some turnarounds around more groovy and dancefloor-oriented track, especially on the A side with ‘Air Italia 0002’ and ‘The Birth of the Peemax’.
For the Premiere Series, Trommel decided to feature the last track of the record: FM Enhancement, a strong evocative and poetic piece. This one reflects the producer’s aesthetic pretty well, giving it a relaxing ambient feel and a tangy, groovy vibe, finished off with dark breaks and beats.
As it opens up on a strong and intense bassline, FM Enhancement‘s charm stands in the musicality of the track. Too Smooth Christ plays around a certain duality here, in between dark and smooth, hot and cold, light and intense. It is the kind of track that you’d want to listen to at the closing of an endless afterparty, at the last set of a five-day festival, the kind of track that somehow, leaves you with this intense feeling of joy and nostalgia.
