Premiere: B1 – Rowlanz & Ivan Kutz – Iridescence [PLATFORM02]

Scottish outlet Platform 18 return with an exquisite slice of cosmic bliss.

After hosting a series of events across Glasgow’s historical hub of dance music, the Scottish collective launched their in-house label late last year, with a split VA between residents Craig Hamilton, Ivan Kutz and Niz.

Showcasing at various locations across the city, Platform 18 have been pushing their own take on minimal house for years. As well as earning a showcase at the infamous Sub Club, Platform 18 have invited the likes of Julian Perez, John Dimas, tINI and more to the north.

The labels second instalment stays local, with Ivan Kutz returning alongside Yoyaku affiliate Rowlanz. ‘Walk with Brie’ opens the EP with a comforting, dubby cut. Staggered vocals trickle over a delicate bassline, the calibre of territory walked by many Sunwaves regulars in SIT, Priku and more.

Featured premiere ‘Iridesence’ maintains the deep palate of warm sub bass. Wide and elegant synths glide across simplistic patterns, allowing the full and intricate production value speak for itself. Swung percussion sweeps beneath the kick, gradually rising with cymbals throwing energy into the mix, adding to the luscious atmosphere.

Apollonia favourite Jaz Flores is invited to conclude the EP, with the Jump Recordings Bay Area native remixing the title track with a slick tech-house route.
