For its milestone tenth release, Gabriele Mancino continues to solidify his label’s Future Plans reputation for precision sound design and deep dancefloor functionality. Unlike the previous edition, which showcased Mancino’s solo vision, for Various EP he expands the storyline by bringing together a special cast of artists by his side: Darren Allen, Luc Ringeisen, and Mariano Mateljan.
Our premiered track, Gabriele Mancino’s “A Plan” on side B1 unfolds with an arpeggiated bassline and a puzzling female vocal hook that threads through the mix. A dissonant undercurrent builds unease before collapsing into a subtle yet impactful breakdown, a quintessential Mancino maneuver, balancing emotion and precision.
Opening the record, Darren Allen’s “Egregore” on A1 sets a shadowy tone. Built around dark textures and intricate SFX sound effects, it’s a masterclass in restraint. Granulated details flicker across the spectrum, crafting a deep, minimal atmosphere.
Next up, Luc Ringeisen’s “Sensei” on A2 jolts the energy upward. Modulated tones and an analog bassline drive the track forward with restless intent. Its tension peaks in an unexpected breakdown, making way for a sharp, assertive lead that will surely keep the dancefloor busy.
Closing the EP, Mariano Mateljan’s work on B2, “After You” delivers fluid motion and hypnotic depth. Modulated rhythmic chords ripple throughout, while sharp synths and agile kicks keep the groove alive. It’s a dynamic finisher, unpredictable, sleek, and bursting with character.
