Iranian label Filter Union marks its first major release on the international circuit. The Tehran based platform has been supporting artists in the country since back in 2017, channelling a multi-range of genres. Focused on a broad spectrum of electronic music, an unrestrictive nature has celebrated IDM, Indie Dance, Ambient, Nu Jazz and Techno. Payam Parvizi & Ramtin Niazi serve up some of the latter.
An active player on the Iranian scene, Parvizi has become known over the years for his DJ and live sets. He has contributed to a number of mix series and launched his own label, Spaced Apart, where he featured on the first record release last year. Ramtin Niazi joined the collab, another artist well known on the Iranian underground circuit.
‘Hook’ on A2 is a peak time, sultry banger. Deep and eery, the bassline pummels dark forces while synths drift in quaint melodies. Rattling hi’s tap in tempo, blending in and out of the beat. Acid dominates the undercurrent, determined techno driving heavy at the rear.
Playful squelches of sound snap and jab between an atmospheric lift of cosmic chords. Ominous vocal adds in disturbance, freakish waves of the unsettling. Delving into a heavy hitter, this one would bring intense heat to the dance floor.
The Lone Kat EP comes complete with four additional originals. Forces are focused purposefully throughout, before a delicate closing at the end of the wax.
