Premiere: A1 – T. Jacques – Cheat Codes [NUIT008]

Nuances de Nuit - T. Jacques record art

London label Nuances de Nuit have been releasing fire since they started a short time ago back in 2019. The platform celebrates local talent the likes of Mitch Wellings, Mehlor and Le Louche. More established families also feature, namely the Small Hours crew – already Liquid Earth and Huerta have made their stamp on the label, with Youandewan in tow. The latest instalment marks the first solo EP and it comes from T. Jacques.

The label co-founder was last seen on the label as part of a series of VA’s. NUIT003 quickly topped the record charts, crying out for a much needed repress. Jacques’ ‘Control’ sat suitably alongside Metro’s classic banger ‘Here For The Love’ (Metropolitan Acid Mix). Now the London lad is finally releasing his own EP and it’s set to be another bomb.

‘Cheat Codes’ opens the record. Pleasant melodies dominate, simplistic but tasteful – the feel good factor in this one is lit from all angles. Keys dance across every bar with graceful movement, alternating in pitch as intensities blend.

All tools are crafted to form a peak time player. A percussive shift in the first break merges with the light bassline to create feels of old school groovin’ house. Minimalistic sounds of the present integrate with the deep, becoming fuller in the progression. By the second break its all hands in the air and bright colours to match bright synth.

The track gets a signature remix treatment from Youandewan. That much loved hollow fuzz feeds through the groove over a gentle bounce of bassline. Complimentary as you’d expect from the Berlin based artist.

Buy the record from Juno or deejay.de, due for release in November.
