Romar delivers his signature, stunning slice of minimal.
Returning to his self-imprint Bleu Ciel, the Frenchman collates his third output on the label, maintaining the distinctive, breathtaking zest of minimal house.
Powerful chords set the tone for a transportive master class in the title track ‘Chasing Dreams’. Soft, celestial pad sounds seep beneath a harmonious stab sequence, casting a cloud of bliss above a sea of weightless textures.
A short acid melody sings in response to various vocal snippets, as if shaping Romar’s aural dream state. Stabs rise between melodies, lifting the mood during a euphoric breakdown, before being swung beneath a warming sub bass.
The kick rarely falls from the mix, piloting various paths with subtle hi-hat movements in the label head’s distinctive, lucid methods.
Prolonged sections gift the opportunity for infinite, extended mixing combinations, common with much of the label’s affiliates in the minimal market, in the likes of Ricardo Villalobos, Raresh and Petre Inspirescu.
‘Eternity’ retains the ethereal atmosphere on the B side, drifting through a patient state of bliss, with a joyous, assuring acid riff.
